This series of performances on the road is a tribute to all those forms of existence different from ours, to those presences that appear to our eyes as alien, existing and non-existent at the same time. They are all animals and plants. Minerals and glaciers… But it is also the foreigner and the different. They form the fabric of the landscape, but blend into the landscape until they disappear. They are light and evanescent presences like those of animals, camouflaged forms where the boundary between the body and the surrounding is always uncertain. They are impossible vegetable intelligences. It’s the foreigner who is here and elsewhere at the same time. It’s the different that we do not understand.

After entering the shortlist of the 8 best European outdoor projects 2021 of the Big Pulse Dance Alliance with the project Le Stagioni Invisibili, Fabrizio Favale & First Rose invent a new singular path for outdoor spaces: The Rose Alien Tour – Performance cycle on the road for Westfalia van, live electronics and dance.

The project consists of the journey of a Westfalia van that crosses our cities and unknown places, carrying a small group of dancers and a musician.

At each place the musician sometimes uses, amplifies and re-elaborates the sounds of the environment in which he is located, sometimes distributes in space, even over considerable distances, a series of small radio devices which each emit the sound of disparate environments (international airports, markets of the Far East, animal calls, etc.), sounds that go in a loop and that as the radio lines multiply and accumulate in space, the sounds of each add up, overlap, synchronize with the others until giving the perception than to be in that place but also elsewhere.

At the same time the dancers, having come down from Westphalia and dispersed, scattered in the chosen space, create fields of action, choreographies and settings that are always different, in an experimental perspective that shapes, tunes in and tune out from time to time with the landscape itself and its surroundings.

In fact, in this project a concept of harmony or relationship with the landscape is never sought, nor is the landscape intended as a scenographic set for a possible performative action. As for the sound, the stage action of the dance also tunes in with the surrounding a bit like the antennas of radio telescopes do, which point towards the sky with the aim of finding something incongruous, a gap, a difference, an otherness (alien).
